Trail Of Tears adapted by Kathryn Schultz Miller GMT Productions, Inc. of GA presents the opportunity to meet the Cherokee Indian hero who fights for the survival of his people and their way of life in this play about Cherokee Indian History. The music of drums, flutes, gourd, and turtle-shell's rattle underscore the play and students learn the meaning behind Indian masks and the Cherokees' sacred beliefs. Eagles, eagle feathers, deer, rattlesnakes, fire, smoke, sun and moon all play a part in the play. The play is filled with Native American legends, folklore, Indian culture and sign language. Intertribal Native American Indian Festival Come see the real deal — There will be demonstrations on flintnapping, weaving, tanning and basketweaving, Herbal science, an Indian Encampment, as well as performances of dance, drum, storytellers, puppeteers, and instrumentals. Native Americans from all over the United States will meet on the grounds of South Jackson Civic Center to bring us a taste of their culture and American History. Bring a sack lunch while you enjoy the shows or purchase Native American food from vendors. Bring a little extra money (special prices on education days) in case you want to purchase wares from vendor booths or food. All ages. Kennedy, this show will captivate students as they become interactive with the artist as members of the press during a press conference in the 60's. It then continues with some private thoughts about the Kennedy family and some historically documented events during his presidency. All ages. A Christmas Carol The Community Playhouse of Tullahoma, TN presents Charles Dickens's classic, A. Christmas Carol, expertly tailored for today's children. Meet the old crotchety Mr. Ebenezer Scrooge, the spirits of Christmas, and lovable Tiny Tim as Scrooge discovers the bleak picture of his life and promises to change his ways. He becomes jolly and charitable. He carries the spirit of Christmas all year round. The program incorporates participation of the children through clapping, drumming on their legs, singing call and response and answering questions about the material presented.
