EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH SERIES


    The Educational Outreach Series offers quality educational programming for our children at affordable field trip prices.  Critical thinking skills are developed through the use of study guides and question and answer sessions with the artist or group.  Sponsors for the Series include:  AEDC Federal Credit Union, Russell Barnett, Jameson Inn, Coca-Cola Bottling Works, Ray of Hope Center, Mike Thompson Ford-Mercury-Mazda, Fantasy 101.5, and Barrett Construction Co.

    The Educational Outreach Series is open to schools and individuals.  Home schooling associations are welcomed.  For more information, call 455-5321 or email sjcc@southjackson.org.

    In Amelia Bedelia Goes Camping, everyone's favorite literal-minded maid leaves the coziness of the Rogers' home and goes roughing it! She "pitches a tent..." into the river! And she "catches a fish..." with her bare hands! This story is based on the book by Peggy Parish.


Grades: K-4. Study guide for Language Arts, American History, and Writing.

Intertribal Native American Indian
Festival


    Come see the real deal - There will be demonstrations on flintnapping, weaving, tanning and basketweaving, Herbal science, an Indian Encampment, as well as performances of dance, drum, storytellers, puppeteers, and instrumentals.
    Native Americans from all over the United States will meet on the grounds of South Jackson Civic Center to bring us a taste of their culture and American History. Bring a sack lunch while you enjoy the shows or purchase Native American food from vendors. Bring a little extra money (special prices on education days) in case you want to purchase wares from vendor booths or food.

The Nutcracker
Ballet


    This holiday show is the story of a young girl named Clara who receives a Nutcracker doll as a Christmas present from her godfather Drosselmeirer, and with the help of a little magic, the doll comes to life in her dreams.
    Enjoy local and regional dancers as they present highlights of The Nutcracker Ballet.

JAZZ with T. S. Monk, Jr.

  Join us for an educational interactive workshop in the life of a Jazz performer. T S Monk will be discussing composing, touring, presentation, and jazz history. Learn the nuances of jazz rhythms and vocals expressions.

  Join T S Monk and his band and experience a day in the life of a jazz legend.
