A Journey in Jazz
With Vikki True

This program is an interactive overview of the development of American Jazz, with emphasis on the influence of rhythm and the voice. The program incorporates participation of the children through clapping, drumming on their legs, singing call and response and answering questions about the material presented. This 45 minute program uses the following instruments: voice, African Drum, upright bass, piano, guitar, and trumpet.

    Vikki True has delighted audiences around the country from coffee houses to symphony halls, from night clubs to cabarets, and festival appearances.

    Vikki True is a force of nature, a one woman jazz explosion who can scat intricate vocals, croon a gentle ballad, or shout a mean blues.
    She came up through the ranks, "schooled" the old way in jazz club cutting sessions at the feet of veteran jazz musicians for whom the MUSIC was paramount. That experience is evident. She loves what she is doing.
